Inspired by a lifelong love and career in the fine arts, Agnes Wnuk continues to explore the creative elements within photography. Her photography focuses on capturing unique architectural details, atmospheric conditions, and the play of light and shadow. Color and composition are the most important elements of her work. A resident of Cheshire, Connecticut, the art of photography has engendered exploring high and wide throughout New England in search of new material.
In the last six years, the fine arts have pulled her to exploring colored pencil, oils, pastels, watercolors and urban sketching. Agnes has sketched on location in Bermuda, St. Maarten, Mallorca, Spain and Key West, as well as around New England, New York State and Colorado. She took part in the annual Urban Sketchers Symposium in Amsterdam in July, 2019, completing an entire sketchbook during a week long excursion.
Agnes has taught workshops in urban sketching and watercolor for Cheshire Adult Education, Artsplace in Cheshire and Arts Escape in Southbury. She was asked to judge an exhibition for the Manchester Art Association and did an art demo for the group as well in Fall 2020. She will be presenting sketchbook techniques to the Hamden Art League in September 2021.
Her photographic, oil and watercolor work has been accepted into juried shows at The West Hartford Art League "CT+6 Juried Exhibition", The Art League of New Britain, The Mystic Arts Center, The Rowayton Art Center, The Gallery at Trinity Lime Rock, The Connecticut Academy of Fine Arts Annual Exhibition, The New Britain Museum of American Art "Nor'Easter: Annual Juried Exhbition" and the Salmagundi Club of New York.. Her oil painting "When Life Gives you Lemons" won an award at the West Hartford Art League exhibition, and several of her photographs have garnered awards and honorable mentions at local shows.
